UGSRC Elections - Electoral Comission opens nominations for aspirants

This is to bring to the notice of the general student populace of the University of Ghana community that the Electoral Commission has opened nominations for the various UGSRC Executive Offices.

According to the electoral commission, the opening date for nomination is Wednesday 17th August, 2022 at 6:00am and the closing date is Saturday, 20th August 2022, at 6:00pm.


The various executive offices to contest for are the offices of the President and the Vice President, the office of the General Secretary and the office of the Treasurer.

Nomination forms for the president and the vice president cost GHS 1,000, while the nomination forms for the General Secretary and the Treasurer cost GHS 300.00

SIM card registration will not be extended. Ursula Owusu

Communication minister, Ursula Owusu Ekuful The minister for communications and digitalization, Ursula Owusu, has stated that there will be no further extension of the deadline for sim card registration. She said this during a National Communications Authority forum in Kumasi. According to her, the sim card registration is very crucial because it will help lessen the prevalence of cyber crimes in the country. The exercise will make it possible to create a subscriber database with integrity to keep the customers safe from scams and fraud. She went on to urge all who have not yet linked their Ghana cards to the SIM cards to do so before the deadline. The SIM card registration began in October 2021 and was supposed to end in March 2022 but was extended to July 2022 due to the fact that a number of Ghanaians were not able to register their sim cards.
