UG students assured of new accommodation facilities - Pro vice chancellor for students and academic affairs.

According to Professor Gordon A. Awandare, pro vice chancellor for academic and student affairs at the University of Ghana (UG), in the upcoming years, students would see new hostel facilities springing up all over the campus.

According to him, the university's top priority right now is finding housing, so his organization is collaborating with the university council to improve the terms of leasing the school's land in order to attract investors interested in developing hostel facilities.

"We want to prove that this is the top university in West Africa by offering a positive study and living environment.

Since the university hasn't really done well with facilities during the past ten years, more new ones would soon be seen in Accra, he said.

At the Dr. Hilla Limann Hall in Accra's inauguration of a 100-seater conference room and a renovated television room, Professor Awandare offered the guarantee.

It was built by the 2021/2022 JCR administration under the name K. O. Ayeh Conference Room to enhance the welfare of the hall's occupants.

He praised the Junior Common Room (JCR) governing council for taking such a step and said it would enhance the student experience on campus.

"I am excited about this program because the school and I both share the goal of enhancing the student experience over the coming years, and all of the activities we are launching are focused in that direction. After students graduate, it is hoped that they would return to support and enhance the learning environment at the school, according to Professor Awandare.

Albert Nii Noi Okwei, the president of the JCR at the hall, noted that the conference room needed to be renovated when he took office since it was in poor condition.

According to him, the project was financed by resident dues with the intention of enhancing the welfare and experience of students on campus.

"Conferences and seminars can be held here. now that students can watch football matches right here on campus", he added.
