Armed robbers raided NIA office - Ghana card printing machine stolen
The NIA office was raided, and the printing equipment for the Ghana Card was stolen.
It has come to light that thieves broke into a National Identification Authority (NIA) office in the Ahafo Region's Asunafo South constituency and stole equipment used to make Ghana Cards.
On August 8, 2022, the local member of parliament, Eric Opoku, revealed that despite the burglary being reported to the police, no solid leads regarding the criminals have surfaced.
According to Mr. Opoku, a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), the NIA office where the robbery took place has since been shut down, he told Okay FM.
He made the following remarks about the radio station in Twi, which are translated into English as: "The government has set a deadline for SIM card registration, and your NIA office has been broken into. How are those who are qualified to register going to be able to register for their Ghana Cards, even their SIM cards, and perhaps their voter ID cards?".
